Whole Band:
- REHEARSE, REHEARSE, REHEARSE, REHEARSE and REHEARSE SOME MORE!! -A bands performance quality comes from the musicians.
- Make sure all instruments are in full working and playable condition.
- All band members should bring backups (Instruments, picks, strings, reeds, sticks etc)
- Bring a sheet with the Title of every song and as many details as possible such as Key and Tempo(if known)
Drummers:
- Crappy sounding drums cannot be fixed by any amount of work by your recording studio and expensive gear.
- Be sure to replace your drums heads about two days before tracking
- Tune them the day before you come in
- Be sure your snare and other drums do not hum or squeak or have any other unwanted sound
- Kick drums sound better recorded with a ported head. Be sure you have a ported head on your kick!
- Bring spare sticks
Bass Guitars:
- Many bass guitar hum, try to fix this before you come in so we don’t have to waste our time trying to fix it here.
- Once hum is recorded its there, there is not much that you can do about it
- Change your strings.
- If you have effects know your presets, bring the appropriate cabling for your effects.
Guitars:
- Change your strings 2 days before your session, be sure to break them in
- ALWAYS bring extra strings
- Make sure your guitar is in tip-top working condition
- Replace ANY and ALL batteries that are in your rig before you come in. DO NOT FORGET YOUR PICKUPS
Vocalists:
- Know your lyrics- Your recorded performance will sound better and you will sound more confident if you memorize them
- If you can’t sing for prolonged periods of time bring vocal spray
